The work of the great holy father of the Western Church of the 6th-7th centuries, St. Gregory the Great, Dialogist, Pope of Rome (540-604), "Conversations on the Gospels" was created at the beginning of the archpastoral activity of St. Gregory, in the 90s of the 6th century, from forty of his liturgical sermons for the Gospel readings for the feasts and days of remembrance of the holy martyrs. These Conversations, written and spoken at a difficult time for the Christian Western Roman Empire and the Roman Church, respectively, the time of barbarian invasions and other cataclysms, are imbued with a special eschatological mood and a call to strive for the Kingdom of Heaven - the Heavenly Fatherland of every Christian, reveal the moral and mysterious content of the gospel text through the prism of the beneficent mind of the holy father of the Church and prepare the mind and soul for a worthy meeting with Christ, and therefore they still sound relevant in every era of the life of Christ's Church. The “Discourses on the Gospels” of St. Gregory occupy a worthy place among the great biblical interpretations of the era of the undivided Church.
