Herbert Уэллс was one of the first writers visiting Soviet Russia. In 1920 on invitation of Каменева he accomplished a journey to Petrograd and Moscow and conducted there fifteen days. Impressions about life in a country yet not getting well after civil war, he described in a book "Russia in haze". A непредвзятый look outside to power of bolshevists caused a stormy reaction in the west and provoked a polemic with Черчиллем, accusing Уэллса in to the "insufficient soundness".
