At the beginning of 70th the American slavists of Эллендея and Carl Профферы created a publishing house "Ардис", where they printed to Russian and in translating into English books that on censorial considerations was not published in the USSR. During one of the journeys to the USSR they became acquainted with Joseph Бродским. When a poet was turned out from a country, exactly Carl Проффер with large labour obtained for him an entrance visa in the USA and helped to get a place university teacher. From 1977 all Russian poetic books of И. of Бродского were published in "Ардисе". Close relations between Бродским and couple of Профферов proceeded long years. In extreme moments Carl Проффер worked on remembrances that his widow wanted to publish, but on will of Бродского they so not came into the world. In the memoirs of Эллендеи Проффер Тисли, sanctified to Бродскому, the fragments of notes of Carl entered. Remembrances of Э. Проффер Тисли sometimes carry underline polemic character, admiration does not interfere with the poetic gift of Бродского her soberly to estimate some events and facts of his life.
