In this book, Paul Contino offers a theological examination of Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov. The author introduces the concept of “incarnation realism”, denoting the method used by Dostoevsky to revive and spiritualize his heroes. Thus, in relation to the image of Alyosha Karamazov, it helps to understand the mechanism of decision-making and actions of the hero. The book examines in detail the figure of Elder Zosima and how he, in the role of confessor, with his special vision of responsibility for everyone and for everyone, influences Alyosha. The study also pays attention to Alyosha's brothers - Mitya, who is trying to become a “new man,” and Ivan, with his painful fight against God.
