The author of the book is a former employee of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center (VNIIEF, Arzamas-16). Arriving at the Nuclear Center in 1969 as a graduate student, he worked here for almost 30 years, testing nuclear charges, including at nuclear test sites. In his industrial and scientific activities, he was fortunate to encounter the luminaries of the nuclear weapons industry who stood at the origins of the creation of Soviet nuclear weapons, among them B.G. Muzrukov, E.A. Negin, Yu.B. Khariton, V.N. Mikhailov, S.G. Kocharyants, D.A. Fishman and others. Being the secretary of the city committee of the CPSU, the author had to solve production and scientific problems together with many of them. In subsequent years of parliamentary activity, the author fruitfully collaborated with another outstanding scientist, a member of the Communist Party faction, Nobel Prize laureate Zhores Alferov. In the book presents the history of the creation of Soviet nuclear weapons, which ensured peace for many years for the peoples of the USSR and then Russia, the role of the leaders of the Soviet state in this - Stalin, Beria, Molotov and others, the role of outstanding Soviet scientists.
