Nikolai Semyonovich Leskov (1831–1895) is a great Russian writer, widely known for such works as “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk”, “Lefty”, “The Stupid Artist”. “A Seedy Family” is a family chronicle of the Protozanov princes from the chronicles times before the 19th century, which Leskov called his “favorite thing.” The writer managed to convey in his novel the atmosphere of life of all strata of society, created unforgettable colorful and original images, showing a multicolored, complex picture of the morals and destinies of the Russian people. The book also included the story “The Enchanted Wanderer.”
