The collection “Soborians” includes the best works of the wonderful Russian writer N.S. Leskova (1831 - 1895). The story "Soboryan" was written in 1872. It began Leskov's turn to Slavophilism, to Russian religious themes. Vividly and figuratively speaking about the life of the Orthodox clergy, Leskov, with tenderness and kindness, emphasizes the shortcomings that took place in Russian church life. At the end of his life, N.S. Leskov, assessing what he created over three decades of service to literature, said: “The strength of my talent is in positive types..." Leskov was constantly looking for positive heroes. One day he found them in a work beloved by the Russian people called “Prologue,” a collection of tales about Christians of the first centuries. This collection has been known in Rus' since ancient times; it was rewritten many times, and since 1641 it has been republished many times. Leskov did not retell old parables in a modern way, but created new original literary creations, in which he embodied his dream of universal harmony, the kingdom of goodness and light, true love for the Lord. The results were very kind and edifying stories. Faith, Hope and love in these stories are carried by ordinary people - righteous people, from the people who cannot “think about their soul when there is someone who needs to be helped.”
