Juliet Gellatly became a vegetarian at age 15 and has dedicated her entire life to protecting animals. After she received her degree, she became the first youth officer of the Vegetarian Society and subsequently became its director. During this time she launched the first youth campaign against factory farming, increased the number of schools offering pupils a 13% to 65% vegetarian diet and created the only UK-only magazine for vegetarian young people, Greenscene. In October 1994 she set up Viva, a delightful new vegetarian and vegan charity for adults and young people.
