Virginia Woolf's answer to the question posed in the letter about “how can we prevent war?” An outstanding analysis of the causes and consequences of women's exclusion from British cultural, political and economic life. The work was originally conceived as an essay novel, alternating chapters of fictional and journalistic narrative, demonstrating Woolf's views on war and women.
