James Edwin Gunn (1923–2020) was an American science fiction writer, critic, teacher, professor at the University of Kansas, and founder of the Sturgeon and Campbell Memorial Prizes. Twice winner of the Hugo Award, Grandmaster of the Nebula, author of almost two dozen novels and more than a hundred short stories and novellas.
