For a significant part of the 20th century, the Russian Orthodox Church was subjected to fierce persecution by godless authorities, giving birth to a whole host of confessors who courageously stood for the faith of Christ. The book is dedicated to the history of one of the most significant forms of church resistance - the Josephite movement, which received its name after Metropolitan Joseph of Petrograd (Petrovykh). It describes, first of all, the fate of the leaders and main participants in the movement, many of whom have already been canonized as New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia. The book was prepared on the basis of a large complex of previously unknown archival documents and personal memories.
