Professor of the Kazan Theological Academy Ivan Petrovich Reversov was known at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries as a researcher of ancient writing, however, in addition to purely academic works revealing the significance of apologetics in the history of the Ancient Church (these include “Apologists. Defenders of Christianity” and “Essay Western apologetic literature of the 2nd and 3rd centuries"). I.P. Reversov published books that played a significant role in Russian education. His “Textbook of History” and “Notes on New History” went through many editions, from which several generations of high school students studied.
