Each essay is a story about a separate campaign or operation, and although the book was being prepared for publication in the late 1920s, it has not lost its relevance to this day. All authors of the collection (except P.P. Lebedev) are A.S. Bubnov, I.I. Vatsetis, A.I. Egorov, N.E. Kakurin, S.S. Kamenev, M.N. Tukhachevsky, R.P. Eideman - were repressed in the 1930s. This publication does not include essays about the Soviet-Polish war.
