"A word about Igor's regiment" is an important monument of ancient Russian cultural heritage, a historical epic created at the end of the 12th century.
The main plot of the book is dedicated to the unsuccessful campaign against the Polovtsians of the Novgorod-Siversk army led by Prince Igor. However, the "Word" also mentions other events from the history of Kyivan Rus, princely feuds and battles of early times.
The decoration of the book, its main lyrical theme is "Yaroslavna's Cry" - the monologue of Igor's wife, who grieves over the defeat of her husband, is impressive with its depth of drama.
The artistic translation of the work was carried out by an outstanding Ukrainian poet - Maksym Tadeyovych Rylskyi.
