The events of the life of Pavel Milyukov - historian, journalist, political scientist, leader of the Kadet Party, minister of the Provisional Government - would be more than enough for several biographies. He met with Leo Tolstoy, talked with Lenin, discussed with Trotsky. The founder of Russian liberalism was imprisoned in a tsarist prison for anti-government agitation, received the ironic nickname Dardanelles for his firm foreign policy line, and in exile survived an assassination attempt by monarchists. Nadezhda Teffi, Mark Aldanov, and Ivan Bunin collaborated with his newspaper Latest News. The range of his scientific interests was extremely wide: from land ownership during the times of Ivan the Terrible to geopolitical problems in the Balkans. He laid the foundation for a new scientific discipline - cultural studies, spoke several foreign languages fluently, and even before emigrating, he lectured in Bulgaria, the USA, and England. Although a recognized scientific authority, he never received the title of professor and, in his own words, remained the last Russian private assistant professor. The book by Georgy Chernyavsky and Larisa Dubova was written using extensive archival materials, most of which were discovered by the authors.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
