The Stoic” enjoyed enormous success among readers all over the world and still arouse keen interest. This edition includes two famous novels by Dreiser: “Genius” and “Stronghold”. The novel “Genius” tells the story of the creative and moral quest of provincial artist Eugene Vitla, who dreams of becoming the first painter who managed to capture on canvas the entire breadth and richness of American culture. Passion, creative egoism, ineradicable traits of a businessman and exorbitant ambitions attract Eugene to wealth and fame, forcing him to pay too high a price for success. The novel “Stronghold,” which was published after the author’s death, tells the story of three generations of a religious Quaker family.
