Book by the famous German prose writer H.H. Kirsta stands out from almost six dozen works dedicated to Richard Sorge. Based on documentary materials, the author painted the image of not a die-hard communist, not a super-spy and not a great martyr hero, as Sorge was previously presented to us, but a person endowed with the weaknesses and shortcomings characteristic of ordinary people. He was not at all distinguished by an angelic character, he often drank heavily, passionately loved women, and behaved excessively rudely with members of his intelligence group. But no one can dispute the fact that Ramsay-Sorge was an outstanding personality.

Книга "Зорге, якого ми не знали" є справжнім відкриттям для тих, хто цікавиться історією та особистостями, які вплинули на хід подій. Автор, Х.Х. Кірст, зумів створити багатогранний образ Ріхарда Зорге, показавши його не лише як шпигуна, але й як звичайну людину з усіма її слабкостями та недоліками. Цей підхід надає новий погляд на історичну постать, яка часто сприймалася однобоко. Кірст майстерно використовує документальні матеріали, щоб підкріпити свої тези, і це робить книгу ще більш цінною. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має недоліки, загальна якість викладу та глибина аналізу компенсують ці недоліки. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто хоче зрозуміти, що стоїть за легендою про Зорге, а також тим, хто цінує якісну прозу з історичним контекстом.
