In the new world of Piers Anthony "Mut", two types of people coexist: normal people and mutants. Mutations are of two types: mutation itself - physical deformity, distortion of external appearance; and psi-power is some exceptional property of the brain, a function of the body that is outwardly not noticeable at all. The main character, Nett, is a double mutant: he has a physical mutation - a small asymmetrical deformation of his hands, and psi power is the ability to make other people forget him. Nett is quite happy with his lot in life until the beautiful Lovka comes into his life to recruit him for a dangerous galactic mission. She is helped by two small mutant animals: a telepathic weasel and a clairvoyant crab. Nett tries to resist, relying on his psi, but the beauty of the woman and the psi factors of animals doom him to a phenomenal adventure.

Книга "Мут" Пірса Ентоні вразила мене своїм оригінальним підходом до теми мутацій та їх впливу на життя людей. Головний герой, Нетт, з його подвійною мутацією, стає справжнім символом боротьби за прийняття себе в світі, де нормальність і відмінність постійно стикаються. Його здатність змушувати інших забувати про нього надає сюжету унікальності, а його взаємодія з прекрасною спритністю та двома незвичайними тваринами створює динамічну атмосферу пригод. Книга не лише розважає, але й піднімає важливі питання про прийняття, ідентичність та силу дружби. Хоча переклад іноді має недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися захоплюючим сюжетом та глибокими персонажами. Рекомендую всім, хто любить наукову фантастику та незвичайні історії!
