The Reindeer Game is the story of a traditional northern family leading a nomadic lifestyle. Women set up tents and whisper with fire, and men go out hunting and take care of the herd. In the tundra, human life depends on the deer, and the life of the deer depends on the will of the gods. “The tundra gave, the tundra took,” as they say in the North. It has been this way since time immemorial. But what happens if the eldest son tries to save a deer stuck in a swamp? What if the younger one breaks the rules of an adult game? What if a daughter goes against centuries-old traditions? The ethnic coloring mythologizes the space of the story, but it is based on a universal, understandable to everyone, collision of the old traditional and the new, young world. In this new world, all people are equal, like children playing together, in it no one is subordinate to anyone.
