Головна героїня, сирена Щівес, викликає симпатію з перших сторінок, адже її внутрішня боротьба між обов'язком і бажанням свободи настільки реальна, що змушує задуматися про власні вибори в житті. Історія про її рятування молодого вісельника та подальші пригоди сповнені емоцій, напруги та несподіваних поворотів.
