Publisher's abstract: “Alexandra Viktorovna Bogdanovich was known throughout St. Petersburg, located on the three highest floors of the “table of ranks”; ministers and governors, metropolitans and ladies-in-waiting, diplomats and writers gathered in her hospitable salon. For thirty-three years, Bogdanovich painstakingly wrote down in her diary everything that seemed worthy of attention to her, although she did not pretend to be a historiographer of the last three emperors. Despite the lack of a deep political analysis of what was happening, she was able to record in sufficient detail and with a high degree of reliability many events that took place in the period from 1879 to 1912." Олександра Вікторівна Богданович, як авторка щоденника, надає унікальну можливість побачити життя та побут вищого суспільства, де переплітаються політика, культура і особисті драми. Її спостереження про міністрів, губернаторів та інших значущих постатей того часу створюють живий портрет епохи. Хоча книга не претендує на роль глибокого політичного аналізу, вона все ж таки надає цінну інформацію про події, які формували історію Росії. Переклад, хоча й має деякі недоліки, не заважає загальному сприйняттю тексту. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та соціальними аспектами життя в Росії в цей період!
