Ця книга стала для мене справжнім відкриттям. Ентоні Дорр зумів створити неймовірну атмосферу, де кожен персонаж, навіть найменший, відчувається живим і реальним. Історія сліпої французької дівчинки та німецького хлопчика, які намагаються вижити в жахливих умовах Другої світової війни, пронизана глибинними емоціями, любов'ю та надією. Автор майстерно поєднує особисті драми героїв з глобальними подіями, що робить роман не лише історією про війну, а й про людяність, стійкість та силу духу. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які, на жаль, іноді заважають сприйняттю, загальна якість тексту та глибина сюжету вражають.
