After Stalin's death, former KGB officer Lev Demidov strives to start a new life. But Fraersha, the wife of a priest imprisoned in one of the Gulag camps, does not want to forgive her tormentor. She kidnaps Lev's adopted daughter and threatens to kill the child unless Demidov frees her husband. To save the girl, Lev will go to Siberia, and then to Budapest, engulfed in an uprising against the socialist regime, and will go through all the horrors that his victim once experienced.

Вражаюча історія про боротьбу та відкуплення
Книга "Колима" - це справжній шедевр, який переносить читача в атмосферу післясталінської епохи, сповненої страху, жаху та надії. Лев Демідов, колишній офіцер КДБ, стає не лише жертвою системи, але й її антагоністом, коли він вирушає на небезпечну місію, щоб врятувати доньку. Автор майстерно передає емоції персонажів, їхні внутрішні переживання та моральні дилеми, з якими вони стикаються. Читач відчуває всю глибину трагедії, коли Лев намагається знайти баланс між своїм минулим і бажанням змінити своє життя. Хоча переклад книги має деякі недоліки, це не заважає загальному враженню від читання. "Колима" - це не просто історія про втечу, а глибока розповідь про людські стосунки, прощення та відкуплення. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує літературу, що змушує задуматися про важливі питання життя
