Frank Herbert (1920–1986) is an American science fiction writer, author of the famous fantasy saga “The Dune Chronicles,” which has been translated into dozens of languages and won millions of fans around the world. The most authoritative SF magazine "Locus" recognized Herbert's "Dune" as the best science fiction novel of all time. However, the author’s creative legacy is not limited to the famous epic about the planet Arrakis. We present to your attention the science fiction novels “Green Brain”, “Valley of Santaroga” and “Hellstrom’s Termite Mound”. It’s hard to believe that they were created in the 60s and 70s of the twentieth century - the threats that the great science fiction writer warned about seem so relevant. The disastrous consequences of environmental experiments, the onset of an aggressive microcosm, catastrophic changes in flora and fauna - all this is just the beginning of Nature’s formidable response to the destructive actions of humanity, which has arrogated to itself the sole right to use its resources to the detriment of the rest of the planet’s inhabitants.
