Слідчий Валерій Самсонов постає не лише як професіонал, але й як людина, яка бореться зі своїми внутрішніми демонами, намагаючись зрозуміти мотиви маніяка. Кожна деталь, описана в книзі, викликає жах і водночас зацікавленість, а непередбачувані повороти сюжету не дозволяють відкласти книгу вбік. Хоча переклад може містити деякі недоліки, це не заважає загальному враженню від читання.
