Hans Günther's book examines the work of the outstanding Russian writer Andrei Platonov (1899–1951). Based on the entire corpus of Platonov’s works, the transformation of his worldview is examined, special attention is paid to Platonov’s place in the world tradition of utopian thinking and the genre of utopia and dystopia. The connections and echoes of the prose writer’s work with his predecessors are traced - from medieval mystics to F. Dostoevsky, N. Fedorov and other Russian philosophers. At the same time, the writer’s work is analyzed in the context of his contemporary culture. The book summarizes the results of numerous previous works by H. Gunther on the work and worldview of A. Platonov.

Глибоке дослідження творчості Платонова
Книга Ганса Гюнтера "По обидва боки утопії" є надзвичайно цінним внеском у вивчення творчості Андрія Платонова. Автор майстерно аналізує еволюцію світогляду письменника, показуючи, як його роботи відображають складні соціально-політичні реалії свого часу. Особливо вражає, як Гюнтер проводить паралелі між Платоновим та його попередниками, такими як Достоєвський та Федоров, що дозволяє читачеві глибше зрозуміти контекст його творчості. Книга не лише узагальнює попередні дослідження, але й пропонує нові погляди на жанри утопії та антиутопії, в яких Платонов працював. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, загальна якість роботи та глибина аналізу компенсують ці недоліки. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться російською літературою та філософією, адже вона відкриває нові горизонти у розумінні творчості одного з найзначніших письменників XX століття.
