Hans Günther's book examines the work of the outstanding Russian writer Andrei Platonov (1899–1951). Based on the entire corpus of Platonov’s works, the transformation of his worldview is examined, special attention is paid to Platonov’s place in the world tradition of utopian thinking and the genre of utopia and dystopia. The connections and echoes of the prose writer’s work with his predecessors are traced - from medieval mystics to F. Dostoevsky, N. Fedorov and other Russian philosophers. At the same time, the writer’s work is analyzed in the context of his contemporary culture. The book summarizes the results of numerous previous works by H. Gunther on the work and worldview of A. Platonov.
