If you take a closer look at the history of Ancient Rus', you can easily notice that in those days there were political forces interested in the fragmentation and eternal hostility of the Slavic tribes and in the weakness of Russian statehood. There were also figures who, for the sake of their own self-interest, betrayed the interests of their native land, weaving cunning conspiracies and committing any crimes. It is worth remembering at least Svyatopolk the Accursed and the murderers of Andrei Bogolyubsky, the secret and open opponents of Alexander Nevsky and Dmitry Donskoy, the subversive activities of the Uniates and the heresy of the Judaizers. A new book by Valery Shambarov is dedicated to all these and many other historical characters and events, who considered it possible and justified to apply to them the term that arose in the 20th century.
