The famous poet, storyteller and scientist Sakarias Topelius (1818–1898) played the same role in the cultural history of Finland as Pushkin did in Russia. This book includes selected tales of Topelius, closely related to the legends of Scandinavia, Finnish and Karelian runes. On the pages of the book you will meet trolls, brownies and giants, princes and princesses, as well as ordinary boys and girls with whom real adventures happen. This publication is published with the support of the Literary Information Center of Finland.
