The book is dedicated to the last serial battleships of the British Empire - ships of the King George V type. These ships entered the history of shipbuilding as the embodiment of the London Treaty on the Limitation of Naval Arms of 1936. In the history of the Second World War, this is the tragic “Prince of Wales” and one of the winners of the “Bismarck”, “King George V” - the flagship of the Home Fleet, the winner of “ Scharnhorst" - "Duke of York". Less well known are the Howe and Anson, which primarily fought in the Pacific. The book tells about the history of creation, design features and combat service of these ships. A separate section is devoted to the Lion-class battleships - direct descendants of the King George V-class battleships, which were not built at the beginning of the war, and after its end became unnecessary for the collapsing empire.
