The book by the famous Russian writer Vikenty Vikentyevich Veresaev (1867–1945) includes two novels that reflect the events of our recent history: the Civil War and the difficult period of the late 1920s and early 1930s. The heroes of the first novel, “At a Dead End,” are part of the old Russian intelligentsia, who saw the meaning of their lives in serving the people, but never accepted or understood the October Revolution. The main question: is the victory of the Bolsheviks progressive, or are they going along the wrong path? The novel “Sisters” is about representatives of the rising post-revolutionary young generation, going to factories and factories, joining the Komsomol and the party. Idealistic and dreaming, naive and processed propagandists - they live their difficult lives, trying to reconcile party truths with spiritual experiences.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
