The new novel by the famous Russian writer Alexander Kerdan is dedicated to the great traveler and navigator Vitus Bering (1681–1741). Being a Dane by birth, Bering devoted his entire life to serving Russia. His main act was the Great Siberian (Second Kamchatka) expedition. It was a grandiose scientific and research project even by modern standards! Of course, he immediately had both supporters and ill-wishers. A thick web of intrigue rapidly grew around Bering. Not wanting to ruin a great deal, the brave Dane included several of his most fierce opponents in the expedition. Continuous surveillance was carried out on the expedition's detachments, all sorts of intrigues were built up to the outright boycott of officials along their route. The great journey took place, but it turned out to be the last for many of its participants...

Книга "Хрест командора" Олександра Кердана - це не просто історичний роман, а справжня епопея, яка переносить читача в епоху великих відкриттів і сміливих експедицій. Автор майстерно відтворює атмосферу XVIII століття, коли Вітус Берінг, незважаючи на всі труднощі та інтриги, намагався здійснити свою мрію - дослідити невідомі землі. Читачі можуть відчути всі емоції, які переживав Берінг, його відвагу, рішучість та безстрашність у боротьбі з природою та людськими підступами. Хоча текст перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, це не зменшує його літературної цінності. Деякі фрази можуть бути не зовсім коректно перекладені, але це не заважає загальному сприйняттю. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією, пригодами та людськими долями, адже вона не лише розширює кругозір, але й надихає на нові досягнення!
