Abstract Boris Pavlovich Dilyakov was born in Slavgorod, but in infancy he was taken to Baghdad by his parents who fled from the Makhnovist bullets. There he grew up as a strong and playful, intelligent boy under the supervision of his grandmother Sarah, his father’s mother. He completed his elementary school course in Baghdad at home, and by the time he left there he was very well educated for his age. In addition, as a true Assyrian, who are the most gifted polyglots in the world, he mastered many of the languages used in that environment. Learning them came so easily to him that it seemed quite natural to his mother, and upon arrival in Chisinau, she sent him to a Romanian school, having no doubt that her son would also quickly learn this language. But a tragedy occurred in Chisinau, and Boris Pavlovich lost his father. His entire family found themselves in a very difficult life situation, so they were forced to split up. Grandmother’s part of the family remained in Chisinau, and Alexandra Sergeevna and her children fled in May 1932 across the Dniester to Russia, where she also had to urgently hide any traces of her involvement in the East, Baghdad, and her husband’s family.
