The novella “The Moon Pool,” published in All-Story on June 22, 1918, was an extraordinary success. It was the story of how a small scientific expedition discovered an ancient structure on one of the Caroline Islands and inadvertently disturbed its mysterious inhabitant. The author does not provide a clue to the ominous events that followed this - and perhaps this circumstance was the reason for such a great success of the story.

«Місячна заплава» - це справжня перлина у світі літератури, яка вражає своєю атмосферою та загадковістю. Автор майстерно створює напружену обстановку, де наукова експедиція стикається з невідомим, і читач відчуває, як напруга зростає з кожною сторінкою. Відкриття стародавньої споруди на Каролінських островах та подальші зловісні події викликають уявлення про щось містичне та незбагненне. Хоча автор не дає чіткої розгадки, це лише підсилює інтригу і спонукає до роздумів. Щодо перекладу, хоч він і має деякі недоліки, загалом текст читається легко і не відволікає від основної історії. Рекомендую цю новелу всім, хто цінує якісну фантастику з елементами містики та пригод!
