The new poetic “Running” by Diana Arbenina captures songs and poems on paper: from early student samples, through those that have become classics, to just caught rhymes, published for the first time. The running lines commit themselves to 2017—not in a ethereal attempt to slow down, but wanting to give both the author and the reader the opportunity to look back in order to run further. Running through time, through the strokes of dates and years indicated. Events and people become the occasion and the starting point, spilled ink and broken strings accompany them as permanent props, lowercase letters “without commas against the rules” remain a personal attribute and call for the signature “d. ar.” The musician Arbenina needs a stage, a little more and her brainchild will turn a quarter of a century old. The poet Arbenina needs a black and white ovary of letters and for a long time there is no need to prove anything. Maybe for yourself, but you won’t know about it. But you can run with her.
