For many years, Speer was an eyewitness and direct participant in the events that took place behind the scenes of the Nazi state. Since September 1930, he has been the head of military development, and since February 1942, the Reich Minister of Armaments. Hitler appreciated his abilities, and for nine years Speer was among those close to him who enjoyed the Fuhrer’s special confidence. Sentenced to twenty years in prison in Spandau, the famous architect tried to comprehend what had happened to him and his homeland during this time.

Спогади Альберта Шпеєра, який займав ключові позиції в уряді, надають унікальну перспективу на внутрішню політику, військову промисловість та моральні дилеми, з якими він стикався. Автор не лише описує факти, але й намагається осмислити свої дії та їх наслідки, що робить цю книгу не лише історичним документом, але й філософським роздумом про відповідальність та совість. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, це не зменшує цінності самого матеріалу. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться історією, політикою та психологією людини в умовах тоталітарного режиму
