The concept of beauty is one of the central ones for Christian theology. It applies not only to the natural world, but also to the area of human creative activity. Moreover, Christian thought gives beauty a transcendental dimension: creation is beautiful because the Creator is beautiful; beauty in the world are signs of the divine presence in it. The authors of this book (including such outstanding modern theologians as Karl Barth, Hans Urs von Balthasar and Callistus Ware) offer the reader a theological understanding of beauty from the perspective of various Christian denominations.
