On the eve of the twentieth anniversary of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a book by the iconic Belarusian writer Ales Adamovich “...The name of this star is Chernobyl” was published. The pain and understanding of the terrible fate that overtook Belarus as a result of the “victory” of Soviet science was reflected in the letters, notes, and speeches of Ales Adamovich, who devoted the last years of his life to the Chernobyl tragedy. The Chernobyl disaster that befell Belarus is the writer’s personal tragedy, the pain passed through his heart. Today, when they are trying to reduce the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy, and the ghost of a nuclear power plant is again hovering over the Belarusian land, the words of Ales Adamovich sound like a warning: stop, wake up, don’t forget!..
