The Latin kingdoms in the East, which arose as a result of the Crusades, became islands of Western civilization in a completely alien world. The most powerful of these states was the Kingdom of Jerusalem, its center was the Holy City of Jerusalem with the Holy Sepulcher located there, the reconquest of which was the main goal of the crusaders. Автор майстерно описує етапи становлення Єрусалимського королівства, вказуючи на його значення як острівця західної цивілізації в чужому світі. Читач має можливість відчути атмосферу тих часів, дізнатися про лицарські ідеали, релігійні зіткнення та соціальні зміни, які вплинули на життя людей XIII–XIV століть. Хоча текст перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, що іноді призводить до незначних недоліків, загальне враження від книги залишається позитивним.
