The city of Breslau no longer exists. As a result of the War, it went to Poland and is now called Wroclaw. It was Breslau, and not Berlin, that became the last citadel of Hitler's beast. For eighty days, the besieged garrison and Volkssturm fighters offered desperate resistance to the Red Army, constraining the actions of 13 Soviet divisions. Hitler even appointed Breslau Gauleiter Karl Hanke as the last Reichsführer of the SS. The rebellious city, which found itself deep in the Soviet rear, capitulated only on May 6, 1945, after the Fuhrer’s suicide and the fall of Berlin. Soviet historians did not like to remember this last battle. But we must not forget the feat of the Soviet soldiers, who were able to blockade and force the most impregnable fortress of the Third Reich to surrender. Renowned historian Andrei Vasilchenko presents the most complete study of the fall of Breslau.

Автор детально описує боротьбу радянських солдатів, які, незважаючи на всі труднощі, змогли взяти місто, яке стало символом непокори. Книга написана зрозумілою мовою, що робить її доступною для широкого кола читачів, а також містить багато документальних свідчень, які підкреслюють важливість цього етапу війни. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, що виникають через використання штучного інтелекту, загальний зміст книги залишається вражаючим і пізнавальним.
