In the collective work of Novosibirsk authors, the first edition of which was published in 2004, for the first time in Russian historiography, a retrospective analysis of the formation and evolution of the main marginal groups of post-revolutionary Russian society, which made up the “shadow” structure of the latter (“dispossessed”, Nepmen, “bourgeois specialists”) was undertaken ", exiles, special settlers). With the involvement of a wide range of sources, including mass sources (personal files), the basic characteristics that determined the social policy of the Stalinist regime in relation to these groups (the formation and development of the legislative and regulatory framework), the dynamics of numbers and composition, the transformation of behavior and group values of marginalized people in conditions of Siberia in the 1920s–1930s.
