John T. Книга Джона Т. Еплбі "Іоанн, король Англії" є справжнім відкриттям для всіх, хто цікавиться середньовічною історією та політикою. Автор майстерно відтворює епоху правління Іоанна Безземельного, показуючи не лише його політичні амбіції, але й людську сторону цього монарха. Еплбі вдало описує складні стосунки Іоанна з оточенням, знаттю та церквою, що надає глибини його характеру. Особливо вражає, як автор не обмежується лише негативним зображенням короля, а показує його як багатогранну особистість, яка прагнула любові та визнання. Хоча переклад тексту місцями може бути не зовсім ідеальним, це не заважає насолоджуватися змістом книги. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче зрозуміти складність історичних постатей та їх вплив на розвиток Європи!
