Five months ago, Nick, Valerie Leftman's boyfriend, opened fire in the school cafeteria, killing many students and teachers and shooting himself. Валері, як персонаж, викликає співчуття та бажання підтримати її в боротьбі з наслідками трагедії. Книга змушує задуматися про важливість взаєморозуміння та про те, як ненависть може призвести до катастрофічних наслідків.
