Herman Melville (1819–1891) is a classic of American literature, an outstanding romantic writer. The third volume of the Collected Works includes novellas and short stories ("Bartleby the Scrivener", "Encantadas, or the Enchanted Islands", "Billy Budd, Fore-Mars" sailor" etc.); as well as selected poems from the collections "Battle Scenes, or War from Different Points of View", "John Marr and Other Sailors", "Timoleon and Other Poems" and posthumously published manuscripts.
