"Ріка диму" – це неймовірна книга, яка переносить читача в атмосферу Китаю 19 століття, де переплітаються долі різноманітних персонажів на тлі торгівлі опіумом та політичних інтриг. Амітӑва Гош майстерно описує життя торговця Філіпа Кентона, його пригоди та виклики, з якими він стикається. Книга не лише розкриває складнощі колоніальної епохи, але й показує глибокі культурні відмінності між Сходом та Заходом. Якість перекладу, хоч і має деякі недоліки, все ж не заважає насолоджуватися захоплюючим сюжетом та яскравими образами персонажів. Читання цієї книги стало для мене справжнім відкриттям, і я з нетерпінням чекаю на продовження трилогії. Рекомендую всім, хто любить історичні романи та хоче поринути в незабутню атмосферу минулого!
