The Italian writer Alessandro Baricco (b. 1958) became famous after the publication of the novels “Sea-Ocean” and “Silk”. Baricco is the winner of many major literary prizes, not only in Italy, but also in other countries around the world. In 1998, the film “1900. The Legend of the Pianist,” which is based on Baricco’s theatrical monologue, and in 2007 the film “Silk” appeared, which immediately gained popularity among viewers. The novel Emmaus, published in Italy in 2009, is a subtle, piercing story about the fate of modern young Italians, about love, friendship and faith, about learning the truth, about suffering and the search for the meaning of life, about the collapse of hopes and finding oneself. p>
