Joel Chandler Harris (1848–1908) was a renowned American writer, folklorist, and journalist. For more than two decades, Harris published collections of black fairy tales, in which the constant narrator was the eighty-year-old Uncle Remus. Fairy tales tell the story of the cheerful joker and prankster Brother Rabbit, who, thanks to his intelligence and resourcefulness, copes with life's difficulties.
