Joel Chandler Harris is an American writer. He lived his whole life among the blacks of North America and wrote down a lot of black fairy tales. The great-grandfathers of American blacks lived in Africa. They brought with them tales about Brother Rabbit, Brother Fox, Brother Bear and other animals. When Joel Harris was a little boy, he often listened to these funny stories. Uncle Remus, an old black man, very kind and affectionate, told them to him. And Joel loved Uncle Remus so much! All his life he remembered his funny fairy tales. And Joel Harris called his book: “The Tales of Uncle Remus.” For primary school age. Reissue of 1990, design by I. Tarkhanova. Source:
