The creative legacy of Nikos Kazantzakis (1883–1957) - writer, poet, playwright, essayist, researcher and translator - is rightfully considered one of the most significant contributions to the literature of the 20th century. His native Greece repeatedly provided the writer with the opportunity to test himself and come into close contact with the most diverse manifestations of the human spirit. This versatility was brilliantly reflected in the novel about the adventures of the Greek Alexis Zorbas, published in 1943, filmed in 1964 (three Oscars in 1965) and immediately placing its creator among the world's greatest novelists. This work, sparkling with the sounds and smells of Crete, is almost plotless, but filled with many meanings and temptations, all these precious drops of existence, greedily and carefully collected by the main character - adventurer, lover and musician Alexis Zorbas.
