“The Economics of Good and Evil” is the result of Tomas Sedlacek’s reflections on how people’s ideas about the world have changed from an economic point of view. The author suggests looking at economics not as a strict scientific discipline, but as a cultural phenomenon, a product of our civilization. He turns to the most important historical sources and the works of great thinkers: from the Sumerian epic and the Old Testament to ancient Greek and Christian literature, from René Descartes and Adam Smith to the modern postmodern era, to show the development of the economic worldview. In his study, Sedlacek took an interdisciplinary approach, convincing the reader that the concepts and concepts with which economics operates lie beyond the boundaries of its discipline. Thus, Sedlacek considers issues of meta-economics that are directly related to history, philosophy, anthropology, sociology and cultural studies. The author’s “deconstruction” of the history of economics made it clear that economics, in essence, deals with questions of good and evil.
